International relations with scientific collectives of Germany, Great Britain, Turkey and India have been established thanks to the implementation of research within the framework of the scientific platform "regenerative medicine". For more than thirty years, university scientists have been studying the diverse properties of the hormone melatonin. The results obtained have already received international recognition due to the prospects of the drug in a new direction of scientific research – anti-aging and preventive medicine, and according to the latest international research data - in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. Research is actively underway for new approaches in the delivery of medicines using nanotechnology. Innovative approaches are being studied to overcome antibiotic resistance of pathogens of infectious diseases of out- and in-hospital etiology with the help of natural antimicrobial peptides. A wide resonance was caused by the work of scientists from the University and the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute, a branch of VolGMU, with Indian colleagues to evaluate the effectiveness of medicinal compositions containing extracts of plants growing in the territories of the CMS, as well as on the east coast of India. Taking into account the social significance of COVID-19, StSMU scientists have begun scientific research to assess the features of the immunological status of patients with SARS-CoV-2. Scientific research has been initiated and is being conducted within the framework of 12 topics devoted to various aspects of diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes in patients with a new coronavirus infection. The results obtained in the course of the work made it possible to propose 2 new test systems for detecting humoral and cellular immunity to Covid-19: to determine the level of IgG to the spike protein SARS-Cov-2 and the activity of memory B-lymphocytes to it.
