The Komi branch of the State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Kirov State Medical Academy of the Federal Agency for Health and Social Development" in Syktyvkar began its educational activity as a branch of the Faculty of Medicine of the Kirov State Medical Institute in 1996 with the admission of students to the 1st year in the specialty 040100 "General Medicine" in the amount of 50 people with a two-year training in the city of Kirov State Medical Institute. By the Order of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation dated 14.01.2000 No 12, the Komi branch of the Kirov State Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Russia was established on the basis of the branch of the Faculty of Medicine, renamed the Komi branch of the Kirov State Medical Academy of the Federal Agency for Health Care and Social Development in Syktyvkar on 22.03.2006. To organize the educational process, the branch was allocated a building built in 1918 at 11 Babushkina Street. In addition, the branch has been allocated classrooms in the Syktyvkar Medical College to accommodate the Department of Medical and Biological Disciplines, use in the educational process of a gym, a library, as well as a canteen and a first-aid post for serving students and an assembly hall for cultural events. By the Order of the Rector of the Academy dated July 3, 2000 No 122-OD, the Faculty of Pre-University and Additional Education (FDP and DL) was opened in the branch. In 2003, the admission of students at the expense of the federal budget was increased from 50 to 75 people. In 2004, the admission of students to the 1st year of the branch at the expense of the budget of the Russian Federation increased to 83 people.
