Faculty of Medicine

It was organized in 1987, thus becoming the founder of the higher medical school in the city of Kirov.

The Faculty of Medicine provides qualified personnel to medical, scientific and educational institutions not only in the Kirov region, but also in all districts of Russia, and in countries near and far abroad.

Currently, the faculty is the most powerful division of the University.

Teaching is conducted at 44 departments of theoretical and clinical profile, where 47 doctors and 190 candidates of science work. The degree rate is 74.3%. The faculty employs: 1 Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation , 3 Honored Doctors of the Russian Federation , 2 laureates of the State Prize , 9 members of Russian and foreign academies of sciences. More than 30 heads of departments and teachers have been awarded honorary certificates of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, more than 50 employees have been awarded the title of "Excellent Healthcare Worker", 5 professors have the title of "Honored Worker of Higher Education of Russia".

In the disciplines of the specialty "General Medicine" over the past 5 years, 24 patents for inventions have been received, 169 scientific and practical conferences of various levels have been held.

The Faculty of Medicine studies in stages the humanities and socio-economic disciplines, natural sciences, mathematics and medical-biological disciplines, and, finally, professional clinical disciplines.

Students are trained in theoretical disciplines at three educational and laboratory buildings. Clinical disciplines are taught at the Kirov State Medical University's own clinic and 20 medical and preventive institutions in the city of Kirov, equipped with modern diagnostic and medical equipment. In recent years, the equipment of the departments and clinic of the Kirov State Medical University with specialized educational, laboratory and diagnostic equipment has increased significantly.

The departments of the medical faculty have formed scientific and pedagogical schools that are famous in Russia and abroad, glorifying the medical faculty with their scientific and practical achievements in various fields of medicine, primarily in the field of liver surgery, cardiology and cardiac surgery , obstetrics and gynecology , physiology , ophthalmology and eye microsurgery, healthcare organization, rheumatology , dermatovenereology, neurology and neurosurgery , infectious diseases , and psychiatry .

Students of the Faculty of Medicine are actively involved in the scientific student society at the departments. The members of the society participate in the work of scientific conferences held annually both at Kirov State Medical University and at other universities in Russia and abroad. This work is coordinated by the Student Scientific Society (Nomus) of Kirov State Medical University. Excellent students, activists of the SSS and amateur activities are awarded diplomas, prizes, and are nominated for the appointment of personal scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation, the Governor of the Kirov Region, etc. Based on the results of training over the past 5 years, the faculty has fulfilled the state order for training students in the specialty "General Medicine" by 98%, while the average share of students of the Faculty of Medicine expelled from the academy during the year is no more than 2%.

The general management of the faculty is carried out by the academic council of the medical faculty under the leadership of the dean I. A. Chastoyedova. 18 departments are administratively assigned to the faculty.

Over the years of the Faculty of Medicine's existence, more than 4,500 doctors have been trained. Graduates of the Kirov State Medical University successfully work in all regions of Russia, neighboring countries, the USA, Germany, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Israel and many other countries of the world. More than 80% of graduates are employed annually, and the best of them continue to improve their professional level, studying in internship in 23, in residency in 33 and in postgraduate studies in 20 specialties.
