When to Apply for MBBS in Russia? Admission Timeline 2025.

Okay, so you're set to take the plunge and pursue medicine in Russia! Good for you! But when do you apply? Missing deadlines is worse than hell, so let's get you on the 2025 MBBS intake timeline.

 

Keep in mind that some of the dates will be minute-by-minute different from year to year and university-specific. So this is a bit of a rough guide. ALWAYS refer to official university websites for the most current information! But hopefully, this will provide a rough idea of what to expect.

 

The General Timeline (Approx.) Mid-2024 to Late 2025

 

The application period typically occurs from May/June 2024 to August/September 2025, and the classes begin in September/October 2025. Let's break it down step by step together:

 

Phase 1: Planning & Gathering (May/June 2024 - December 2024)

 

Your "mission briefing" phase. Get yourself ready and do your research!

 

• University Research: Your Summer Task (May/June 2024 - Aug/Sept 2024): Start looking into the different Russian medical universities. Which are best suited to your grades, your budget, and your goals? What do they have to offer? What is the fee? What is student life like? Shortlist to your top few.

• Agent Time (Maybe): (May/June 2024 - Aug/Sept 2024): If you are going to use an education agent to help you with your application, start looking and selecting them now. Make sure that they are reliable, experienced, and do what they claim! Look for agents approved by the universities.

•  Document Roundup! (Aug/Sept 2024 - Dec 2024): Gather ALL the documents needed: 10th and 12th reports, photocopies of your passport, birth certificate (maybe), etc. Translate and authenticate them if necessary. It takes a long time, so start EARLY!

•  NEET Preparation for Indians (Ongoing): If you're an Indian, you need a good NEET score. Study and prepare for the NEET examination throughout this whole period.

 

Phase 2: Time to apply! (Jan 2025 - May/June 2025)

 

Time to implement your plans!

 

• Application Craze (Jan 2025 - April/May 2025): Most universities begin accepting applications in January. Apply to your shortlisted universities WELL in advance of the deadlines. Applying early is always a good idea! Pay careful attention to those deadlines; missing them is a no-no!

• Entrance Exams (If Applicable): (Feb 2025 - May/June 2025): A few unis also have entrance exams. Prepare in advance and book your seat. They are usually most frequently in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. You'll probably have to give it online or at a test center.

•  Show Your English Proficiency (Jan 2025 - May/June 2025): You will probably need to show that you have English speaking skills by taking IELTS or TOEFL. Ensure that your scores are valid and submit them before the deadlines.

 

Phase 3: Waiting Game & Visa Time (June 2025 - August 2025)

 

Time to be patient (and fill more forms, naturally!).

 

•  Be Watching Your Email (June 2025 - July 2025): Universities will typically make offers of admission in June or July. Monitor your email and the application portal of the university!

•  Yes! (and Pay): (June 2025 - July 2025): If you receive an offer, congratulations! Then read the fine print, accept the offer, and pay within the specified timeframe.

• Visa Application: Apply as Early as Possible (July 2025 - August 2025): Once you have your admission letter, apply for your visa. Get all the documents (admission letter, passport, etc.) and apply at the Russian embassy or consulate. Your visa processing will take some time, so don't delay!

 

Phase 4: Russia Bound! (August 2025 - September 2025)

 

You're almost there - it's nearly time for your adventure to begin!

 

•  Book Your Flights (August 2025): Book your flights to Russia and organize your accommodation. Organize airport pickup and accommodation through the help of the university.

•  Arrive in Russia (Aug/Sept 2025): Plan your travel in such a way that you arrive timely in order to settle down before the commencement of classes.

•  Enrollment and Orientation (September 2025): Enroll yourself at the university and attend the orientation for international students.

• Let the Learning Commence! (Sept/Oct 2025): Classes start!

• Plan NOW: Do not wait. Plan and study ahead of time.

• The University Website is Your Bible: Check all the deadlines and requirements on the university websites.

• Get Organized: Make a checklist of all the documents and deadlines. Do not lag behind!

• Don't Hesitate to Ask for Help: If you need it, don't shy away from asking education agents or advisors for help.
