Is Mari state university your destination for MBBS?

You're thinking of becoming a physician, and, sure, it's A BIG DEAL. Being at the right school is getting the right co-pilot for the dream. MSU always seems to become part of the equation, and you can't help but wonder if it really is where you're supposed to be.
Listen to what I have to say, MSU may not be for everyone, but it has some pretty attractive qualities, especially if you are financially responsible and intellectually oriented.
WHY YOU MAY BE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING MSU (AND YOU SHOULD BE)
• NMC Thing: Come on, straight talk, it's a big deal if you're an Indian student. MSU has recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC). It's not paper; it's a ticket back home. It just ensures you can even take the exam to be a practicing doctor in India after you finish school. No kidding, don't even consider a school not recognized by it if you plan to practice in India.
• Money Talks (And MSU Listens): Medical school is prohibitively costly. It can put you in a heap of shattered hopes even before you even reach the point of saving a life. MSU comes at a fraction of the price compared to what you would pay in the US, or even the majority of Europe. It means less pending debts, and space to actually focus on studying.
• No Shortcuts, Good Education: It's not cheap because they are not taking shortcuts with the education. It has a proper MBBS course to be at international standards. You are going to be taught all the things you are meant to learn, from body structure to surgery.
• Get Your Hands Dirty (In a Good Way): You won't be stuck in a lecture hall all day. MSU emphasizes clinical rotations, which equates to actually working in hospitals, examining patients, and starting to acquire real-world experience. This is where you become a real doctor.
• Real-world experience: It's not the books when you're abroad studying; it's the experience. You'll be working with all different types of people from all over the globe, experiencing new cultures, and forming a new perspective of healthcare. It's a big advantage no matter where you end up practicing.
OK, BUT WHAT IS THE CATCH (BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS A CATCH)?
MSU is not perfect. Let's be realistic:
• Russian 101 (Required): You're studying English, but you're in Russia. Try to navigate everyday life or, heaven forbid, work with patients when you don't know a little bit of Russian. Take some Russian. Seriously.
• Culture Shock Exists: Russia isn't Kansas. Be prepared for various customs, various ways of doing things, and possibly a little bit of culture shock. Take it in stride, but prepare for it.
• Prepare for Winter: Russian winters are no laughing matter. Bring the warmest clothing you can find, and be prepared for some fairly cold weather.
• Don't Expect the Ritz: MSU is a decent school, but it isn't the fanciest school you will ever lay eyes on. The buildings are older than what you're used to.
SO, IS MSU YOUR DESTINATION?
There it is.
• Are you actually interested in practicing in India? If so, then NMC recognition is HUGE.
• Is affordability a top concern to you? MSU can help you achieve a fantastic career with little debt.
• Are you ready to take on a new culture and some adventure too? It takes courage to become a study abroad student. • Are you willing to work and study some Russian. It's not a choice, folks. If you're answering "yes" to most of these questions, MSU is a serious consideration. Research it, talk to current students if you can, and make an intelligent, informed decision. This is your life we're talking about! Good luck. No, I am not kidding.
